After a very enjoyable time in England with my family, I find myself inside Virgin flight #9 on the JFK tarmac at 9:05pm… curious as to how my re-entry into the United States will go - considering I’ve been a “legal alien” for the last 4 years, and having to line up with the rest of the “visitors”… I meander past the “visitors” line toward the “US citizens” line, wondering if my Green Card is going to grant me the access I’ve heard so many times.

To summarize this event, I’ll say this - it felt good to have the Immigration Officer say “welcome back to the United States, Mr. Hannan.”

Ah, the sweet smell of validity. My card is green, and my pants no longer brown.

Today is a great day, for the following reasons:

  • it’s Friday
  • I had 8 different candidates out on 8 different interviews
  • the weather’s down to 40′F - nice being able to wrap up

oh, and one other thing…

MY FUCKING GREEN CARD WAS APPROVED TODAY!

That’s right, the wait is over. No longer will I have to wear my “unclean” sign around my neck - I’m now a fully fledged Legal Resident of the United States of America. And not a day too soon… I applied in February of 2002.

This is going to change a lot for me and prove integral in initiating certain necessary changes in my life - to which I have almost been help hostage due to the lack of said card.

Never thought I’d say this… cheers for sorting me out George.

[I am going to celebrate so hard tonight that I will probably implode]

COME ON!
