zeitgeist will make you piss in shock

Was the Christian religion pilfered from the ancient Egyptians? Was 9/11 no more than an ignition key for what has become a profiteering war to line the rich’s palms with more $$$? Here’s a very thought provoking movie entitled “Zeitgeist”, and covers what can only be described as “what the fuck”. Are you ready to have a chip implanted yet?

def leppard rocks new jersey

Camden, New Jersey, topped as the country’s worst crime-ridden town in 2004 and 2005, was home to the Sheffield Rock boys on the night of Saturday July 14th - and oh man, did they fucking bring it.

Me and S got to the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden at around 6pm - well ahead of the start time of 7:30pm. After a couple of Michelob Ultra’s and a warm pretzel in the concession stand area, we made our way to our seats - row X, seats 17 and 18 - smack in the middle of the stage, perfect viewing.

We got chit chatting with a young couple to our left - it was his first concert and her birthday, cute couple, obviously excited.

It was touching 7:35pm when Styx came out and opened the night with some pretty awesome sounds - the crowd went nuts. Now, not being a Styx fan myself, I remained seated whilst most rocked out.

It must have been about 9pm when Styx finally ended (I say finally as I didn’t know any of their shit, to be honest) and the stage hands started to clear the stage, and set up for the Yorkshire lads.

Out of nowhere, at around 9:20pm, out they came… Joe Elliott banged out the first line of “Rocket”, and it was all goosebumps and singing from thereon. By 11:30pm my voice was hoarse, my clothes sweaty, and the arena packed with screaming Def Leppard fans.

This will probably stand as one of the most memorable nights of my life - truly superb.

I recorded “Rocket” for you guys to watch - amazing… enjoy.

fucking cab drivers

nyc cabA taxi rider’s bill of rights includes the right to a “smoke free ride, including incense”, so I was a tad aghast when I asked my cabbie tonight to put out his fucking cigarette, which he responded with a grumble and a rear view mirror glare.

Perhaps I’m in the wrong when I assume the role of the fucking customer.

Tip = $0.

new hot dog champ crowned in brooklyn

With 66 HDBs (hot dogs and buns) eaten in 12 minutes, Joey Chestnut was crowned the new World Hot Dog Easting Champion on July 4th, in front of a screaming Coney Island crowd. He inhaled his way through 1 hot dog every 10.9 seconds on average, stealing the crown from Takeru Kobayashi, the once 6-time champ.

I think I can scoff through about 4, then I’m done.

july 4thTo celebrate my forefathers receiving the Yank spank over 200 years ago, I’ll be stuffing my face with greasy burgers and potato salad - I hope too to be able to show off a bbq sauce stain or two on my shirt by 3pm.

Happy July 4th everyone - and remember, don’t hold fireworks in your hand, they is hot.

Les Miserables was amazing. Fourth row from stage. The theater packed to the brim with eager spirits. Act II, scene 4, Jean Valjean delivers a moving song entitled “Bring Him Home”. The scene is set behind the barricade of the revolutionaries, and one of them, Marius, has fallen in love with Cosette - earlier in the show Jean becomes privy to this information by way of a letter delivered to Cosette by Eponine, which Jean reads before giving to his daughter.

So, the lights dim as the soldiers rest for the night, and Jean kneels behind Marius and breaks into song - “Bring Him Home”. I think it only took about 10 seconds for my eyes to give in to the tears - I can hear it now if I take a moment to remember, and it still has the exact affect - such a beautiful song, sung beautifully by Alexander Gemignani who plays the lead role of Jean Valjean - here’s a link to a YouTube clip of Alexander singing this Les Miserables signature piece at the Drama Desk Awards.

burning car hits glasgow airport

news, terrorism 1 Comment »

A burning car hurtled into Glasgow Airport this morning, and 2 men were arrested on scene in connection with terrorism, and they believe to be connected with the car bomb they found in London 2 days ago.

The UK has been placed on its highest level of terrorism alert after an attack on Glasgow Airport was linked to two car bombs found in London.

Two men were arrested after ramming a burning car into the airport’s main terminal, a day after police thwarted two attempted bombings in the capital.

Police said the incident was being treated as terror related.

Later, two more arrests were made on the M6 in Cheshire in connection with the two incidents.

Anti-terror police from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command assisted by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit made the arrests, Scotland Yard said.

Threat imminent? Very bothersome, and to think the attacks are happening outside of London too makes it even harder to determine where to concentrate the emergency services’ strengths.
