rubik's cube, smoking Add comments

…the frigging Rubik’s Cube. Good god, I remember picking up my grandfather’s (or was it my uncle’s?) when I was a kid - I was probably 12 or something. We had a book back then that went through step by step each individual turn of the cube - one side, the first layer edges, then the corners, blah blah… what a headache - I still could never figure the damn thing out. Twenty years or so later, S buys me a cube of my very own - a “reward” of sorts, as I’d stopped smoking for a week. Have I been able to put it down? No. Am I hooked? Yes. It’s like a tiny multi-colored cube of solid crack - and I’m snorting it for hours each day. Yesterday I was twisting the little bastard from 1:30pm til 8:30pm… get a life, Brit, for fuck’s sake!

Anyway, due to some crazy ass gaseous smell that permeated throughout the City of New York today, our office closed and we were sent home, so I was fiddling with cube most of the day - about 4 hours to be honest. I’ve been trying to find a solid beginners solution website for a couple of days, and came across a very nice one today, which had me solving the Rubik crack cube in as little as 7 minutes! For a first timer, I don’t think that’s a bad time - so all I need to do from hereon is to keep solving, over and over, until I memorize the algorithms necessary to place the requisite 1st, 2nd and 3rd layer sides, then permute the final corners and edges - yeah, I used the freaking word “permute”!

So, S is going away this Wednesday through Monday, and I’ve promised myself that I’ll have it down, all memorized, by the weekend.

Rubik’s Cube - holy mother of god, what have I started…

It was your Uncle’s Cube, and I remember your Granda telling you he had done it,producing the finished cube, and then confessing he had rearranged all the stickers!!!!

Now Brucey Baby can do it,he is The Master, very impressive to watch !!!

So where is this nice beginners site? I’ve got a couple of these bastardized cubes sitting around and I’ve truly been thinking about considering picking one up and finding a guide to solve it again.

I used to be able to thanks to all the spare time I had at the bank I worked at in high school…sigh…now I spend my spare time at “work” trying to get Linux up and running.
